Mackenzie Cross is a young digital marketing expert working with vegan businesses, non-profits, and animal rights organisations. She is passionate about helping them to increase their impact online. Her agency, Total Ethics Media and Marketing, focuses on ethical, effective marketing—meaning they never rely on deceptive tactics or exploitation. Instead, they create genuine connections, compelling storytelling, and strategic content that align with their clients’ values.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Are you passionate about ethical marketing and want to help vegan businesses and animal advocacy organisations grow their impact? I'm looking for a Digital Marketing Assistant to join me at Total Ethics Media & Marketing—an agency dedicated to helping purpose-driven brands amplify their message.

This is a freelance / subcontractor role that can be remote or in-person (Sydney), starting at 8-10 hours per week with the potential to grow. The rate is $35 per hour.

What You’ll Need

  • Confidence using Meta Business Suite & Instagram scheduling tools.
  • Intermediate understanding of Mailchimp and email marketing.
  • Ability to follow brand guidelines.
  • Can confidently create social media content in Canva.
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills.
  • A strong alignment with ethical, vegan, and purpose-driven marketing.
  • A willingness to learn and adapt—this role will grow as we do!

This role is ideal for someone passionate about ethical marketing, digital content, and making a positive impact. Whether you’re a recent graduate looking for an entry-level role, a marketing student or intern wanting hands-on experience, or a freelancer or professional with digital marketing skills but limited availability, this position offers flexibility and growth potential.

We're seeking someone who is:

  • Organised and self-motivated – Able to manage tasks efficiently, whether working remotely or in person.
  • Tech-savvy and eager to learn – You don’t need to be an expert, but a solid foundation in digital marketing is key.
  • Detail-oriented and creative – Able to schedule posts, write engaging content, and think strategically.
  • Passionate about ethical business – If you're aligned with veganism, sustainability, or animal advocacy, even better!

This is a sub-contractor position (not an employee role), and work will initially be 8-10 hours per week, with the potential for increased hours as the business grows. You’ll gain valuable mentorship and industry experience while working with a purpose-driven business.
