About the role of Program Manager - Queensland
As the Program Manager - Queensland, you will be instrumental in leading the expansion of Transcend Australia’s programs and services in Queensland. This role offers the opportunity to directly contribute to improving the health outcomes and support systems for trans young people and their families, while driving positive change through advocacy, education, and community engagement.
Your leadership will ensure that Transcend’s programs are effectively meeting the needs of trans communities in Queensland, especially through the development of vital resources for families, parents, and carers. By collaborating with local partners, managing events, supporting volunteers, and contributing to business growth, you will help advance Transcend’s mission to make a lasting impact on the lives of trans, gender diverse and non-binary youth and their families.
This role is designated as a Hybrid/Flexible role, with options to work from home and from an office location.
As the Program Manager – Queensland, you will be responsible for:
- Developing evidence-based resources for families, parents, and carers to improve mental health outcomes for TGDNB children and young people.
- Design and implement community education programs (webinars, workshops, forums) for TGDNB youth and their families.
- Build and manage relationships with local stakeholders (community organisations, healthcare providers, government agencies).
- Lead local advocacy efforts to drive policy change and support TGDNB youth and their families.
- Organise community events, including family activities and advocacy forums.
- Support volunteer recruitment, training, and support for local programs and events.
- Contribute to business development activities to generate revenue, including training and consultancy services.
- Coordinate communications, including social media, to promote programs and advocate for TGDNB youth.
- Track program performance, collect feedback, and report on outcomes to the CEO.
- Provide administrative and operational support to the CEO as needed.
About the candidate
You will have a background, ideally from the health and public policy or community development sector, that demonstrates your strong understanding of mental health and primary care health services, how they integrate and how cross agency referrals are managed.
You will have some understanding of the healthcare needs of TGDNB young people and their families and the policy environment in which we work.
You are experienced with communications or public relations management, project cycles, stakeholder management, community development, evaluation frameworks and reporting. You will be driven to bring your skills and experience together to facilitate the development and/or implementation of a range of programs and initiatives that contribute to Transcend's work towards improving the health outcomes for Queensland based TGDNB young people and building stronger families.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential
To be successful in this role you will have:-
- Tertiary qualification, industry certification, or equivalent experience in Project Management, Healthcare, Policy, Communications, Community Development or similar field.
- Excellent project management skills, with demonstrated initiative and ability to manage issues and champion new projects to enhance partnerships and outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience developing written communication resources and materials.
- Demonstrated experience in community co-design processes.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering training and education programs.
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating and managing events and programs for diverse audiences and communities.
- High level verbal and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with public speaking and presentations.
- An understanding of the needs and priorities of TGDNB young people and their families.
- Demonstrated experience in working in outcome focussed projects with evaluation frameworks.
DESIRABLE
- Lived experience as a TGDNB person or as a parent/carer of a TGDNB young person or child is highly desired.
- Previous experience working with TGDNB communities and/or families of TGDNB people.
- Experience with developing evidence based resources or programs, particularly in a service provision context for similar communities.
