ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Operations & Relationships Lead (.6 FTE), you will play a pivotal role in ensuring TGV's smooth day-to-day operations. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will oversee human resources, culture, team coordination, legal compliance, safety, office management, and organisational planning. This role is key to supporting our team in delivering impactful programs and advocacy while fostering a safe, efficient, and inclusive workplace environment.
Key Responsibilities
Team Care and Supervision:
- Provide care and support to staff, ensuring a compassionate and understanding workplace culture.
- Facilitate regular team supervision sessions to address challenges, provide guidance, and promote resilience.
- Act as a point of contact for staff wellbeing concerns, escalating issues appropriately when necessary.
- Create mechanisms for open dialogue and feedback, fostering a culture of trust and care.
HR, Culture and Organisational Development:
- Drive initiatives that align TGV’s internal culture with its mission and values.
- Promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility across all operations.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, empowering and high-performing work environment.
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies to build a skilled and diverse team.
- Ensure policies and practices are developed, maintained and regularly reviewed to drive the desired culture and values and meet legislative requirements.
- Supervise personal and team objectives and review of performance, supporting development of career and organisational goals.
- Ensure compliance with workplace legislation, awards, and employment standards.
- Champion staff wellbeing, psychological safety, and professional development.
- Provide peer support, coaching and mentoring to colleagues.
Safety and Office Management:
- Develop and maintain workplace safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment for all staff and visitors.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments, addressing hazards proactively.
- Oversee office management, including office infrastructure, maintenance, and security measures.
Legal Compliance and Governance:
- Manage risk assessment and compliance with legal, contractual, and regulatory obligations.
- Ensure policies and procedures are up to date, communicated, and adhered to.
- Work closely with the CEO and Board to support governance and reporting requirements.
Cross-Functional Planning and Operations Oversight:
- Streamline operational processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with program teams to ensure alignment of operational goals with organisational objectives.
- Manage staff contracts, supplier relationships, and office infrastructure.
- Provide high-level operational support to the CEO and leadership team.
Key Selection Criteria
Essential:
- Demonstrated experience in operational coordination or leadership, preferably in the not-for-profit or community sector.
- Knowledge of human resources practices, legislation, and staff development.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and stakeholders.
- Alignment with TGV’s mission, values, and commitment to the trans and gender-diverse community.
- Understanding of LGBTQIA+ issues, particularly those affecting trans and gender-diverse people.
Desirable:
- Experience in workplace safety and office management, including risk assessments and compliance.
- Experience in legal and regulatory compliance, including risk management.
- Familiarity with governance in a not-for-profit context.
