Purpose of position:

The Personal Support Worker supports people with a disability to implement their NDIS plan and achieve their goals and aspirations.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist participants with daily activities, including personal care, domestic activities, support with medication, social and community participation and skill development.
  • Build the capacity of our clients to live as independently as possible.
  • Provide person-centred care by listening and responding to participants’ needs and preferences. Handle complex or challenging situations calmly and rationally.
  • Ensure all administrative tasks are completed accurately and on time.
  • Accurately facilitate the collection, use, storage, and dissemination of participant and organisational information.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to high quality service for people with disability.
  • Support the rights, interests, and needs of people with disability.
  • Work within our organisational values and policies.
  • Maintain the participant’s privacy and confidentiality.
  • Follow reasonable directions given by the line manager.

  • You are an independent, proactive thinker and worker and able to follow direction/s given by your managers and can work within a tight-knit team.

  • You have good organisational and time management skills.
  • You have a good understanding of professional ethics.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Certificate III in Mental Health, Disability, Aged Care, or Community Services desired but not essential.
  • Experience in working with people with a disability.
  • Mental Health First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain.
  • Current Level 2 First Aid.
  • Current valid Australian driver’s licence and a registered, insured vehicle.
  • NDIS Worker Screening check.
  • Working with children check.
  • NDIS Orientation Certificate or willingness to obtain.
  • Manual Handling training (desired but not essential).
  • Medication administration (desired but not essential).
  • Evidence of right to work in Australia.
