The Salvation Army Australia's Homelessness Stream provides high quality, person centred services to people at risk, and or experiencing homelessness. We support adults and families, including accompanying children with accommodation, case management, outreach support, financial assistance, connection and referral to other specialist services.

The Salvation Army's Murrumbidgee Accommodation and Housing Services adopt a person-centred, safe & coordinated "No Wrong Door" approach to homelessness service delivery to ensure the best outcome for all who seek our assistance. This a specialist homelessness service working within the 'Going Home Staying Home' reforms under the NSW Department of Family and Community Services.

THE ROLE

The Case Manager provides services as per The Salvation Army's "fundamentals framework". This includes crisis and transitional support to people experiencing homelessness with a view to achieving housing stability, experience improved social inclusion, community connection and readiness to be equipped for participation in the wider community.

The successful candidate will also:

  • Offer appropriate and high quality support to clients who are homeless or at risk of homelessness through a case management framework.
  • Support will be provided to clients with varied needs which will require a range of alternate options including Early Intervention; Crisis and Transitional Support; Community-based outreach; Rapid Rehousing.

HOURS AND SALARY

  • Full time permanent position (based on ongoing funding)
  • Based in Leeton and Griffith NSW with some travel required around the Murrumbidgee area
  • Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, level 4.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • An appreciation of and the ability and willingness to promote and support the values and ethos of The Salvation Army.
  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Diploma) in Community Services or Social Work
  • Current NSW Driver's Licence
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Current NSW Working With Children Check
  • 2+ years' experience and working knowledge of the community services sector in NSW with a specific emphasis on homelessness and family/domestic violence (including issues, trends, resources & services etc.)
  • Demonstrated knowledge in legislative requirements that govern this type of environment
  • Sound knowledge of networks (homeless, mental health, housing, welfare and job action agencies) within the local area
  • Knowledge of a Trauma Informed Care Practice Approach
  • Knowledge of Recovery Oriented Practice and language
  • Knowledge of the Riverina region will be an advantage
