The role you could play:

We are seeking a dedicated Court Housing Support Worker for our HPP (Housing Pathways Program) Program! You will assist referred clients to address issues exacerbating their risk of homelessness. You will ensure to reduce ongoing homelessness and re-offending among court support participants.

Duties

  • Assess immediate and long-term housing needs to service users who are at risk of homelessness upon release on bail
  • Explore service users to appropriate housing options including crisis accommodation
  • Support clients to develop an individual case plan and journey towards goals be monitored
  • Use a trauma informed model of care, provide outreach and case management to clients referred from Court Services Victoria
  • Case management support including outreach support is provided to clients
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with Court Services Victoria, THM and head-leasing providers

This is a permanent full-time position, based in Coburg North, VIC. Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level 5 Award.

The ideal candidate will have

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work or related Community Service field
  • Degree level preferred however lower qualifications with significant experience is suitable
  • Ability to understand to the needs of individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness
  • Demonstrate knowledge of homelessness sector including role, context and legislation
  • Applies homelessness models, approaches, theories and practices when dealing with clients
  • Knowledge of the Justice system and experience working within correctional settings is considered highly desirable
  • Experience in working with a range of stakeholders and networks
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Current VIC Driver's Licence
