Community Organiser - Launceston

The Wilderness Society

COMMUNITY ORGANISER

The Wilderness Society is working for a future that does not rely on continued destruction of nature and our climate, but rather flourishes because of our responsible stewardship of these core life support systems. We value organisational independence and integrity.

Be part of a team that’s secured some of the biggest wins for Australian wilderness and nature: stopping the damming of the Franklin River nearly fifty years ago, keeping big oil out of the Great Australian Bight, or defending special forests the length and breadth of this continent.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Protecting nature requires a powerful, diverse movement of people who are ready to take action. As the Launceston Community Organiser, you'll be part of building that movement in Tasmania. You'll work to inspire and empower volunteers, creating opportunities for them to get involved in our campaigns and become leaders in their own right. By building strong community connections and strategic alliances, you'll help us mobilise support for our vital work, ensuring that our campaigns have a real impact on protecting Tasmania's iconic wilderness and contributing to the broader goals of the Wilderness Society.

  • Strategic Thinker: You can contribute to the development and execution of campaign strategies, identifying opportunities to engage communities and achieve tangible outcomes.
  • Collaborative Spirit: You thrive in team environments, readily collaborate with colleagues across departments, and value building strong alliances with individuals and organisations.
  • Leadership Development: You're keen to support and mentor community leaders, building their capacity to drive campaign success.
  • Effective Communicator: You possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to clearly articulate campaign messages and build rapport with diverse audiences.
