Chief Executive Officer

The Water Well Project

Are you a dynamic, passionate and enthusiastic leader wanting to make a difference in the lives of people from migrant, refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds in Australia?

About Us

Our organisation:

The Water Well Project is a well-established not-for-profit organisation, currently based in Victoria, New South Wales and Tasmania. Our mission is to promote good health and wellbeing to communities from migrant, refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds to improve their health literacy. Our vision is that all communities from migrant, refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds achieve equitable access to healthcare.

Worldwide, more people are on the move now than ever before, yet many refugees and migrants face poorer health outcomes than the host populations. Addressing their health needs is, therefore, a global health priority and integral to the principle of the right to health for all.

The Water Well Project works closely with partner organisations already working with people of migrant, refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds to develop culturally sensitive and interactive health education sessions. Our volunteers are healthcare professionals (doctors, nurses, midwives, and allied health) who donate their knowledge and time to deliver health education sessions outside their hours of paid professional work. Since 2011, The Water Well Project has delivered over 1,500 sessions to over 22,000 community participants. Our 2022 annual report is located here.
