Working Hours: 0.6 FTE: 26.25 hours per week, across 3 - 4 days per week by negotiation. Some occasional out-of-hours work will be necessary from time to time. All such work will be undertaken as mutually agreed with the line manager on a time off in lieu basis, subject to relevant award provision.

U3A Network Victoria Inc is the peak body for the U3A Movement in Victoria. U3A stands for ‘University of the Third Age’, which is a global movement that promotes lifelong learning and social engagement for older adults. The U3A movement in Victoria is built on the principle that learning is a lifelong pursuit, and age should never be a barrier to acquiring new knowledge and skills. U3A Network Victoria supports these branches by providing guidance, resources, and assistance in program development, governance, and community engagement. The organisation plays a vital role in promoting collaboration and sharing best practices among U3As, ensuring the highest quality of learning experiences for members.

Primary purpose:

As the Member Services Officer, you will be an integral part of our professional and helpful team. Working closely under the direction of the Network Committee volunteer leader, your primary responsibility will be to support U3A Network Victoria's diverse programs and activities. This role requires analytical thinking, planning, and the ability to optimise community engagement through relationship-building with our members and the wider community.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide support and assistance to new, small, and challenged U3As and coordinate Network support and interventions as appropriate
  • Identify the requirements for policies and resources to assist member U3As and contribute to their development
  • Manage the Building Community Engagement program, providing support and overseeing the evaluation of outcomes
  • Support regional meetings of Member U3As and contribute to their efficient running
  • Facilitate meetings and activities of the Combined Regions Group
  • Liaise with other Network staff to ensure coherence and integration of services to Member U3As
  • Develop and maintain management reporting requirements on employment activities

Capability profile:

  • Education: A post-secondary qualification and/or work experience in developing community programs is highly desirable.
  • Work Experience: Significant experience in developing or working in community programs where the customer is the centre of the work
  • Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
    • Excellent interpersonal and customer experience skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Resilient and adaptive to change and emerging priorities
    • Events and community program development
    • Office management and administration
