About the UFUA

The United Firefighters' Union of Australia is a national organisation which represents over 10,000 Firefighters in all Australian States and Territories, with the exception of the Northern Territory, to advance the industrial, political and social standing of its members.

The Victorian Branch is seeking to appoint an industrial officer to our team, located in inner city Melbourne. The position will be a full time appointment.

We provide a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.

Essential Criteria

This position has a focus on general industrial relations matters and industrial campaigns.

The position will work autonomously but under supervision to:

• Provide industrial advice and representation to members
• Resolve members' workplace issues
• Negotiate on behalf of members with employers
• Participate in joint union/employer committees
• Advocate for members before boards and industrial tribunals
• Assist members with enterprise bargaining
• Undertake industrial research
• Participate in and organise ongoing and discrete Union Campaigns
• Be responsible for the organisation and maintenance of internal systems

Qualifications and experience

• A working knowledge of the Australian industrial relations system
• Experience in union, community, social justice or other campaigns desired
• High level of organisational skills and an ability to think on your feet
• Strong computer skills
• Ability to work variable hours
• Current Drivers Licence
