About the Role

Lead a high-profile project aimed at driving long-term, systemic change in student mental health.

You will take charge of executing and monitoring the workplan for the Mental Health in Primary Schools training delivery project, managing governance, and ensuring ethical guidelines are met, while forging strong relationships with key government and education stakeholders.

You will oversee the operational aspects of a dedicated team of professionals to develop, deliver, and monitor this comprehensive training program.

The role offers a chance to shape a transformative, high-impact project, coordinating with established teams and making a lasting difference in the mental health landscape for young people.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Driving strategic project management, initiating operational improvements, and ensuring seamless delivery of project deliverables while managing daily tasks aligned with project plans, including training protocols and processes.
  • Ensuring adherence to ethics requirements set by the UoM Office of Research Ethics & Integrity, including managing modifications and submissions to external ethics offices.
  • Scheduling and overseeing all MHiPS training activities, including face-to-face sessions, online delivery, inductions, and conferences, while providing guidance for events and training, and organising, attending, and conducting regular project team meetings.
  • Providing ongoing operational oversight and support to the Education, Content, and Project teams, proactively identifying and addressing potential project roadblocks in collaboration with senior staff and maintaining a comprehensive risk register.
  • Meticulously tracking budgets in line with the established client contract, including monitoring staff hours against task scoping estimates, coordinating data collection and analysis to meet project objectives, and ensuring the integrity and security of project and research data.

Who We Are Looking For

You are a highly adaptable and resilient Project Manager, with a proven ability to oversee research and training projects in complex environments. Drawing on significant sector experience and strong interpersonal skills, you collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders, building trust and fostering cooperation.

Your ability to anticipate challenges and offer innovative solutions drives the successful completion of complex initiatives and aids to achieve project goals. Your leadership and initiative enable you to navigate ambiguity and bureaucracy with ease, using sound judgement and a problem-solving approach to tackle challenges.

Operating with professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality, you are self-motivated and able to work independently, confidently bringing well-considered solutions to the table. As a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of State Government operations, you bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the role, ensuring that projects are executed efficiently and effectively.

You also have:

  • A tertiary qualification (Honours or Masters) in education, psychology, public health, or a relevant social science discipline.
  • A proven track record in research management and execution, including experience conducting projects with diverse stakeholders (community, government organisations).
  • Proficiency in operating systems such as Monday.com and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), and adeptness in identifying and implementing innovative software solutions to optimise project operations.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to tailor reports for diverse audiences (policymakers, public, and community).

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
