About the role:

This is a full-time permanent position based in Coffs Harbour. Starting base annual salary of $91,297 to $96,882 negotiable based on experience, plus super, plus access to generous salary packaging options.

About the opportunity:

Are you passionate about supporting Aboriginal children and families to thrive? Join Uniting’s Brighter Futures team and make a lasting difference in your community.

As an Aboriginal Caseworker, you’ll provide culturally appropriate, strengths-based support to Aboriginal families with children at risk of entering the child protection system. By building trust and working closely with families, you’ll empower them to create safe, stable, and nurturing environments for their children.

What You’ll Do

  • Build strong, respectful relationships with families and communities.
  • Conduct holistic assessments to understand family strengths and needs.
  • Develop and implement tailored case plans in partnership with families.
  • Provide practical and emotional support, linking families to relevant services.
  • Advocate for families and collaborate with community partners to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to program guidelines.

Your Qualifications & Experience

  • Aboriginality – This is an identified position under section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW). You will need to be able to provide a confirmation of Aboriginality.
  • Experience in casework, family support, or community services.
  • Strong understanding of Aboriginal culture, community, and the challenges faced by Aboriginal families.
  • Excellent communication, advocacy and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to child safety and family empowerment.
  • Relevant qualifications in social work, community services or a related field.
  • Current NSW WWCC
  • Current NSW Driver’s license
