We are currently seeking a Clinical Documentation and Policy Specialist to join our Customer Risk and Governance (CRG) Directorate on a full-time, six-month contract. Reporting to the Clinical Governance Lead, this role plays a vital part in ensuring that our clinical policies are not only robust and current, but also support our vision of delivering safe, high-quality care across the organisation.

About the Role

This is a dynamic and impactful role for a detail-oriented and proactive professional with a strong background in clinical governance, compliance, and health policy.

You’ll lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical policies and procedures that align with current legislation, best practice standards, and Uniting’s strategic objectives. You’ll work closely with clinical teams across the state and collaborate with a range of internal stakeholders to support safe and effective service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Policy Development & Management
    • Develop and maintain clinical policies, procedures, and guidelines in consultation with frontline staff and leadership.
  • Compliance & Risk
    • Ensure all documentation complies with regulatory requirements, identifying risks and supporting audit processes.
  • Quality Improvement
    • Analyse policy outcomes, contribute to quality initiatives, and recommend changes to enhance clinical performance and consumer safety.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Build strong working relationships across teams and directorates to support the implementation and practical application of policies.
  • Training & Support
    • Deliver guidance and training to ensure understanding and compliance with clinical policies.
  • Reporting & Review
    • Maintain documentation, contribute to internal reporting, and participate in audits and reviews to monitor effectiveness.
  • Travel
    • Occasional travel within metropolitan and regional NSW may be required.

About You

You’re a Registered Nurse or Allied Health professional with a keen eye for policy detail and a passion for supporting frontline teams to deliver excellence in care. You're comfortable navigating complexity and engaging others to bring policy to life.

Essential

  • Bachelor's degree in a health-related field or equivalent experience
  • Current AHPRA registration (without limitations)
  • 3–5 years of experience in a clinical or healthcare policy role, preferably in aged care or a complex service organisation
  • Solid understanding of the Aged Care Quality Standards and clinical governance frameworks
  • Exceptional writing, consultation, and presentation skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and confident managing documents in shared systems
  • NSW Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel as needed
  • A genuine alignment with Uniting’s purpose, values, and mission

Desirable

  • Master’s degree or postgraduate qualification in clinical governance, policy, or health services
  • Experience with policy management platforms
  • Membership of a relevant professional institute
