The Centre is a community-based, not-for-profit preschool centre, and is an integral part of the ministry of the Burwood/Croydon Uniting Churches. It is licensed by the Department of Education and Communities and the Approved Provider is Uniting Early Learning.

We are centrally located in Burwood, close to public transport and the shopping centre.

About the Opportunity 

UnitingCare Burwood Preschool is licensed for 40 children per day, aged from 3-6 years, and operates during the NSW public school term from 8.30am – 4.oopm

We are seeking a full-time Early Childhood Teacher, Educational Leader and Second-in-Charge. Your key duties will include:

  • Delivering high quality care and education for children;
  • Development, planning and implementation of an educational program;
  • Maintaining child records and health and safety standards;
  • Participating in all aspects of the day to day running of the centre;
  • Fostering relationships with families and children throughout the centre;
  • Ensuring an inclusive program that work in partnership with community stakeholders;
  • In-depth understanding of and respect for all cultures, including but not limited to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture;
  • Working with and assisting the Service Director;
  • Support educators to effectively implement the cycle of planning to enhance programs and practices, working within requirements of the National Quality Standard;
  • Work with the values and vision of Burwood-Croydon Uniting Church;
  • Face-to-Face teaching 5 days a week.

What do I need to succeed?

  • Highly desirable - Bachelor of Education or Bachelor in Teaching (Early Childhood) or equivalent;
  • Solid understand the National Quality Framework and ELYF;
  • Strong interpersonal skills (approachable, go-getter, positive attitude);
  • Willingness to be an active part of a dynamic team ministry, working closely with the local congregation and community;
  • Experience in Early Learning and leadership is advantageous;
  • Approved first aid qualification with asthma emergency and anaphylaxis training;
  • Relevant child protection clearance i.e. Working With Children Check;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of the National Quality Standard, current practices in early childhood programs and implementing a quality educational program;
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities with intermediate Microsoft skills;
  • Approved child protection qualification.
