About the role

This is a full time (35 hours / week).

Foyer Central is located in the heart of Sydney and offers 53 innovative one of a kind apartment style accommodation for young people with a lived experience of out of home care.

Foyer Central is a bold social impact evidence-based program opening doors for young people aged 18-22 to engage in education, training and employment opportunities in a supported program.

Using an Advantaged Thinking approach, the program aims to provide young people the opportunity to create a culture of ownership, inclusivity, creativity, respect and learning in a connected and vibrant community.

As the Education/ Employment Coordinator you will form an integral part of the Senior Leadership team and will be responsible for education programming and program fidelity to the model of practice that aims for education and employment attainment.

As part of this role you will deliver structured and unstructured learning opportunities for the students, including mentoring, networking within the local community, creative arts, recreational activities focusing on 5 key domain areas Employment & Education, Social Connections, Health & Wellbeing and Housing & Living skills with the goal of creating a lasting change on a young person’s independent living skills

About you

As the Education/ Employment Coordinator you will form an integral part of the Senior Leadership team and will be responsible for education and employment programming and program fidelity to the model of practice that aims for education and employment attainment.

 You will be required to deliver structured and unstructured learning opportunities for the students, including mentoring, creative arts, recreational activities and independent living skills. In line with the needs of the students.

You will need to build and maintain networks with education, training, community organisations and employers within the local area to identify pathway opportunities for Foyer Central students. The role also requires calendar development meeting the 5 domain areas, of education, employment, housing & living skills, health & wellbeing and community connections and one on one student support with education and study support goals,

You will be required to work collaboratively with our service delivery partners including St George Community Housing and Department of Communities and Justice to deliver on a range outcomes. Including completion of internal TAFE certificate course offered on site

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Sciences and demonstrated relevant work experience with young people.
  • Passion for working with young people and a sound knowledge of the challenges faced by young people leaving the out-of-home-care system.
  • Ability to initiate and develop positive connections with relevant agencies, programs and services in the local community.
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence, WWCC and Police Check with the ability to work flexible hours.
  • Willingness to learn and be educated on working within an Advantage Thinking practice model
  • Work with and supervise a small team of workplace students and volunteers including induction, monitoring and rostering of
