Are you a data-driven finance professional with a passion for analytics? Join our Financial Performance and Assurance team as a Junior Commercial Analyst and play a crucial role in delivering insights that drive informed business decisions.

About the Role

As a Junior Commercial Analyst, you will be responsible for leveraging advanced data analytics to support month-end reporting, regulatory obligations, and business insights. Working as part of a collaborative Finance Performance and Analysis team of four, you will contribute to financial modelling, reporting, and operational processes that enable strategic decision-making.

Your Key Responsibilities

Financial Modelling, Analysis, and Reporting:

  • Manipulate, analyse, and synthesise large volumes of data using automation tools such as Power Pivot and Power BI.
  • Provide direct data, insights, and analytical support to the Senior Commercial Analyst – Retirement Living, Housing, and Property.
  • Actively lead the village budget process and support quarterly and annual reporting.
  • Participate in monthly meetings with village and housing managers.
  • Conduct internal benchmarking of similar projects and external benchmarking where possible.
  • Develop dashboard reporting using data visualisation tools like Power BI.
  • Assist in the formulation and documentation of financial and operational data governance, data catalogue, and data quality assurance processes.

Operational Processes:

  • Support the month-end, budgeting, and rolling forecast workstreams.
  • Ensure the timely completion of regulatory obligations.
  • Develop clear, concise, and insightful communication materials.
  • Support the execution of new initiatives to enhance financial performance.
  • Proactively identify opportunities and challenges, assessing potential financial impacts.
  • Identify and implement process improvements.

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting/Finance.
  • Current membership or working towards membership in CPA Australia (CPA), Chartered Accountants Australia (ICAA), or CFA Institute.

Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a finance, commercial, or business analyst role.
  • Strong experience in producing accurate and timely management reports.
  • Proven ability to manage large volumes of data, analyse trends, and extract key insights.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., Power Pivot, VBA, Macros).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to navigate a complex organisation and build strong relationships.

Bonus Skills (Highly Desirable):

  • Experience using Power BI and Adaptive Insights (or similar tools).
  • Prior experience in Retirement Living or Property analytics.
