Practice Specialist Wound Prevention and Management

Uniting (NSW.ACT)
  • Full time permanent role - Practice Specialist - Wound Prevention and Management
  • Base Location: Sydney ideal, with travel across Seniors Services locations within NSW.

About the Role

Wound prevention and management are crucial in helping older Australians maintain their quality of life. As we age, wounds like pressure injuries can significantly impact mobility, comfort, and overall health. Effective wound care not only promotes faster healing but also prevents complications that can lead to hospitalisation or reduced independence. By adopting proactive, evidence-based wound prevention strategies, we empower older people to live with dignity, reduce pain, and stay active, ultimately enhancing their ability to enjoy a fulfilling and comfortable life.

At Uniting, we are committed to delivering the highest standard of care and services to older people. We're looking for a passionate and skilled Practice Specialist in Wound Prevention and Management to join our dedicated team. In this pivotal role, you will serve as a Subject Matter Expert, providing expert consulting and advisory services to our Service Delivery teams, ensuring we uphold the best practices in pressure injury prevention and wound care management.

You’ll partner closely with our service delivery teams to design, implement, and lead evidence-based wound management frameworks, promoting person-centred approaches to care. This role also encompasses coaching, policy and practice improvement, and the integration of virtual technologies to enhance wound care outcomes. You’ll be instrumental in advancing staff capability in wound prevention and care while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Develop and maintain practice standards, frameworks, and models that reflect current evidence and best practices.
  • Leverage program outcome data to inform practice improvements and innovations.
  • Identify training needs for Service Delivery teams and collaborate with Learning & Development teams to implement these.
  • Stay informed about the latest research and trends in wound care, contributing to research planning and service delivery innovations.
  • Engage with peak organisations and professional bodies to ensure Uniting’s practices remain current and innovative.
