About the Role 

This is a full-time contract opportunity (with likely extension) and will be based at Chatswood with some outreach work involved and flexibility to WFH 1 day/ week  

As a Senior Clinician with the Uniting Adult Mental Health (UAMHS) team, you will work with adult clients as part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team with a psychiatrist as Clinical Lead. You will participate in weekly case review meetings, working towards achieving practical and durable goals for clients. 

The senior MH clinician works autonomously to provide structured psychological interventions and wrap around supports. The team provides professional support to each other, sharing of risk and a growth and learning environment. The team also consists of an addiction specialist, nurse practitioner, psychologists and social workers. Discipline specific supervision and support is available for advanced credentialing in your field.

About the Program 

The Uniting Adult Mental Health program is designed to support clients over the age of 18 living in the Northern Sydney area for up to 12 months. The program primarily receives referrals from GPs and focuses on providing primary mental health care, medication management, and therapeutic interventions. As a Clinician, you will work closely with GPs, ensuring that clients' care plans are effectively implemented and that discharge planning is handled smoothly, whether that involves returning the client to their GP’s care or transitioning them to another service. 

Each clinician manages their own case load and is supported in practicing specialist psychological interventions such as RO-DBT, schema therapy psychodynamic therapy, family systems therapeutic modalities. Clinicians slso provide case management and wrap around supports.    

Knowledge and experience  

In this role, you will bring your clinical knowledge in mental health, particularly in risk assessment, mental state examination, and bio-psycho-social assessment. You will also have experience in providing therapeutic interventions such as CBT. Your ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, alongside ongoing support from the Team Leader and monthly online clinical supervision, will be crucial to your success. 

About You (Essential Requirements?) 

  • Qualified Social Worker, Psychologist, Registered Mental Health Nurse or Occupational Therapist 
  • Registration with AHPRA or eligible for or a member of AASW 
  • A strong understanding of risk assessment and management, mental state examination, and bio-psycho-social assessment. 
  • Experience in delivering psychological interventions, particularly Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
