About the role

This is a full-time (38 hours/week) contract opportunity until June 2026, based at Headspace Hawkesbury as part of the Primary Care Team.

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about helping young people (aged 12-25) explore their options for work, study, and career pathways in a supportive and engaging way.

You’ll be working with young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health challenges, supporting them through referrals from GPs, schools, community centres, families, and self-referrals. Headspace follows a “no wrong door” policy, meaning every young person who seeks help is supported—whether through direct assistance or referral to the right service.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting young people to develop job-ready skills such as resume writing, interview preparation, and job searching
  • Helping young people explore career options and alternative education pathways
  • Attending morning intake meetings to identify young people who could benefit from vocational and education support
  • Setting up appointments and carrying your own caseload of young people
  • Facilitating group activities and drop-in sessions
  • Working alongside the Community Development Coordinator to ensure the program is reaching the young people who need it most
  • Receiving professional and operational supervision from the Team Leader

About You

  • Someone with diverse experience—your background could be in youth work, education, employment services, social work, or other areas with transferable skills
  • A strong communicator who can build trust and rapport with young people
  • Adaptable, flexible, and a quick learner—ready to support young people in navigating their next steps
  • Passionate about helping young people gain confidence in employment, education, and life skills
  • Understanding of the challenges young people face, particularly in relation to mental health and wellbeing
  • Experienced in facilitating group work (experience working with young males is highly regarded)
  • Someone with a valid NSW Driver’s Licence and a willingness to visit young people in the community
