About the role

This is full-time role with headspace Primary Care team, based at headspace, Mount Druitt with some WFH option.

headspace Mount Druitt, a community mental health program run by Uniting, aims to reduce the burden of disease in young people aged 12-25 years caused by mental health and related substance use disorders through early identification and effective, evidence-based intervention.   www.headspace.org.au

The Youth Access Team Clinician is responsible for facilitating integrated holistic health care, with the aim of improving outcomes for young people accessing headspace Mount Druitt. As one of the first contact points for young people at the centre, the Youth Access Clinician will need to build a positive rapport with a wide range of young people, as well as their family and friends.

The Youth access Team Clinician will conduct intake and assessment of young people presenting to the service, including complex risk assessments and action a plan to mitigate any identified risk. They will also co-ordinate care, ensure treatment goals are met and adjusting provisions to help the young person meet their identified needs and goals.

The Youth Access Clinician will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, including general practitioners, allied health clinicians, community engagement workers, and support staff.  They will also work closely with local community and partner youth and health services to provide holistic and integrated care.

Essential Criteria:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Mental Health Nursing, Psychology, Social Work or Occupational Therapy
  • AHPRA Registration or eligibility with AASW
  • Demonstrated experience of clinical practice within the mental health field (includes clinical placements and relevant volunteer work such as Lifeline).
  • Demonstrated ability to provide triage and assessment of individuals with preference for assessment skills in a mental health setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide evidence-based clinical practice
  • Willingness to collaboratively plan and coordinate a comprehensive bio-psycho-social approach and interventions to meet the needs of consumers.
