About the Position

As a Disability Support Worker, you will assist clients with a variety of needs, including personal care, daily living activities, mobility support, and community engagement. You will help implement individualised support plans and collaborate with other healthcare and support professionals to provide holistic care. You will play a significant role in creating an inclusive society where individuals with disabilities can thrive and lead fulfilling lives

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with participants in very open and non-judgmental ways, empowering and influencing them to make sure that every day is meaningful.
  • Flexibility to work rotational shifts (weekdays, weekends, nightshifts, holidays and sleepover).
  • Bring positive impacts on client’s lives through engagement and involvement.
  • Ability to listen and communicate clearly and sensitively with vulnerable clients and their families.
  • Knowledge of the emotional and practical difficulties a client may face.
  • Use an empathetic approach to clients.
  • Assess clients to determine continuing needs.

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum 2 years of disability support working experience.
  • Minimum of Certificate IV in Mental Health, Disability Support or equivalent.
  • Direct experience working with people with intellectual disabilities, out-of-home care or homelessness services, ideally including direct care experience
  • Confidence to work with adults and children with complex needs including aged care clients
  • National Police Check (no older than 12 months).
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
