About the opportunity 

The Student Wellbeing team is in a period of exciting transformation in order to align with the University’s strategic plan, developed to deliver an outstanding student experience. In light of this, we are seeking several experienced Counsellors who will be responsible for providing biopsychosocial assessment and intervention services for a broad range of student wellbeing issues.

Reporting to the Counselling Services Team Lead, you will use evidence-based, best practice strategies to deliver timely, accessible, and high-quality counselling services to students at the University. The Counsellor role requires participation in building the Health & Counselling Services profile and its capacity to work strategically, collaboratively, and effectively with key stakeholders in prevention, triage, one to one counselling and referral to internal and/or external providers.

  • Registration with AHPRA or ACA
  • Experience in a counselling role with demonstrated expertise in the assessment and treatment of a wide range of biopsychosocial problems
  • Knowledge of the higher education system and demonstrated experience in dealing with specific concerns of diverse student cohorts knowledge of best-practice short-term interventions within a stepped-care wellbeing and student experience framework
  • Flexibility in their organisation and planning skills in order to balance competing agendas and demands in a fast paced, time pressured environment.
