Why Your Role Matters:

The core focus of the Communications Officer, within the Division of Societal Impact, Equity & Engagement is to provide operational support in the delivery of a robust donor stewardship program.

Collaborating effectively with colleagues across the Division, Faculties and other areas across the University, this role plays an integral part in delivering a wide range of donor communications. With a focus on but not limited to Donor Impact report creation, this role will help to nurture our donors so they feel acknowledged and recognised, are engaged in the life of our community and give again if they have the capacity.

The role of Communications Officer reports to the Senior Development Manager, Donor Experience and has no direct reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the creation and production of bespoke Donor Impact Reports – liaising with internal stakeholders, contractors and designers. Provide regular status updates to management and report on measurable impact.
  • Help build on stewardship engagement strategies for a wide range of donor segments.
  • Create and manage the delivery of stewardship activities focused on helping our donors feel valued, loyal and consider further giving.
  • Help with the project management and production of the Division’s Impact Newsletter, focused on creating meaningful engagement with all donors.
  • Using data and insights, apply a continuous improvement mindset to all communications.
  • Manage adhoc requests for donor stewardship information and draft briefing material for senior staff for important stewardship activities.
  • Provide high level support to the Senior Development Manager, Donor Experience and Head of Donor Experience.

Who You Are:

  • Tertiary level qualification with relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and training, preferably with experience working in a university environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, creative ideas, attention to detail and impact driven mindset.
  • Proven experience project managing complex communications projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, manage sensitive information and accurately articulate research.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Can use discretion.
  • Passion for creating meaningful engagement and impact.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Team player who enjoys building strong working relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent computer literacy skills.
