UnitingWorld is an agency of the Uniting Church in Australia and drives collaboration with our Church partners in Asia, Africa and in the Pacific, to address the causes and consequences of poverty, injustice and violence.
The Head of Programs is a pivotal, forward-thinking, strategic, and creative role tasked with leading and managing the International Programs team. The role is responsible for ensuring the balance, performance, and compliance of the program portfolio, and alignment with strategy, whilst keeping context, opportunity, and capacity in consideration.
Working within the aid sector, you will utilise your excellent communication skills to cultivate and nurture partner relationships to understand their needs, and support the implementation of programs that deliver sustainable outcomes in line with their priorities.
As a people leader, you will promote and live our core values of integrity and respect to cultivate a culture that fosters collaboration and high-performance. You will support your staff to grow and develop by providing clear responsibilities and expectations, and will also innovate and implement practices to increase efficient ways of working.
You are responsible for program budgets and ensuring activities are kept within the financial plan. You will collaborate with the executive team to develop and deliver the Agency’s Strategic and Annual Business plans. You are tasked with ensuring the highest standard of development and humanitarian practices in support of the Agency’s vision and mission.
We are seeing a highly capable individual who has 8+ years within the international development and aid sector (preferably Asia, Africa and/or Pacific regions), with knowledge of relevant best practice and regulatory frameworks. You will have highly developed leadership abilities to manage and lead a team, as well as internal and external stakeholders. Experience in managing programs, budgets, strategic change management, and identifying and mitigating risk is essential.
A good understanding of the Christian faith and a preparedness to work within the polity and ethos of the Uniting Church is required, as you will connect directly with churches here and overseas. Membership in the Uniting Church is desirable although not mandatory.
A successful candidate must be willing to travel with Australia and to Africa, Asia and Pacific regions, and be willing to undertake background checks.
