About the role

The Operations Officer (Focus on HR activities), is a new role within our small ISF People and Place team. The role provides first level people support at the institute and contributes to the development and implementation of ISF’s people strategy, including its wellbeing and capability development initiatives and other strategic people projects each year.

This role is key to the delivery of a high quality employee experience throughout each staff member’s career at ISF and is responsible for managing and improving aspects of the people processes that contribute to a great workplace culture and engaged workforce. This position plays an active role in ISF’s high quality recruitment and induction processes, and coordinates the workplanning and performance review cycles that support staff in excelling and developing professionally. This role also ensures the ISF office space and its infrastructure contributes to a positive work environment and is effectively maintained and meets Health and Safety standards.

If you are the successful candidate for the role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinate the day to day recruitment process of new staff, including liaising with the recruitment panel, advertising of roles, interview logistics, conducting reference checks and communication with relevant stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and manage the processing of ISF employment contracts and honorary and contractor appointments into UTS systems with supervision from the Operations Manager.
  • Coordinate ISF’s workplanning and review cycle including staff communications, tracking progress of documentation completion, providing progress updates and working collaboratively with a team to help prepare performance data packs.
  • Proactively seek opportunities for improvement with people processes and policies and support the Operations Manager in implementing approved changes accordingly.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the ISF people strategy and related people strategic initiatives
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the ISF Health and Safety Plan, and ensure staff are informed of relevant H&S matters in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate initiatives that maintain and improve mental and physical wellbeing of staff and students.
  • With support from the Operations Assistant, ensure that the office space is running smoothly and efficiently and conduct regular reviews to implement improvements.
  • This role may supervise other administrative positions in the future.

  1. At least 2-3 years experience working within a People and Culture team in an Administrative or Officer level position or other similar HR team. Please outline the position(s) you held, your specific core responsibilities and your key learnings from working in that environment.
  2. Highly developed time management and organisational skills with demonstrated ability to exercise appropriate judgement and prioritise workload effectively.

Remuneration & Benefits

Base Salary Range: $78,667 to $89,995 pa (HEW 5)

The university offers 17% employer provided superannuation and salary packaging opportunities.

This appointment will be made on a full-time, permanent basis.
