About the Team

Women in Engineering and IT is a unit in the Faculty of Engineering and IT at UTS. Our initiatives include primary and high school programs, scholarships, industry mentoring, community events and Ambassadorship for staff and students, and research.

Our community has over 1000 staff and students across the university engaging with our initiatives and events. All our programs are evaluated for impact and we partner with many internal and external stakeholders including UTS Centre for Social Justice and Inclusion, UTS Athena Swan program, industry partners and community organisations.

About the Role

The Program Officer will create and lead social change by planning, delivering and evaluating initiatives so that study and career journeys in Engineering and IT are not limited by gender.

If successful in applying for this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Plan and execute community events like coffee hours and cultural celebrations and develop a new post-COVID community strategy.
  • Support the WiEIT Program Coordinator in organising major events and track the community development budget.
  • Redesign, implement, and evaluate the Gender Equity Ambassador Leadership program, including recruitment, engagement, and workshop coordination.
  • Manage grant budgets and assess program impact through data analysis, overseeing ambassador sub-committees.
  • Assist in the selection process for women in engineering and IT scholarships.
  • Develop strategies to boost student and staff engagement post-COVID, focusing on inclusive participation.
  • Lead communications efforts, crafting strategies, managing digital/print media activities, and ensuring compliance with UTS policies.

  1. Demonstrated experience in event management, including planning, implementation and review cycles is desirable
  2. Proven ability to build relationships and positive rapport with a range of stakeholders
  3. Strong interest in diversity & inclusion
  4. Project management: excellent attention to detail, time management and organisational skills with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks, establish priorities and meet deadlines
  5. Demonstrated experience in volunteer management or similar community engagement
  6. Strong interpersonal and written communication skills including experience in digital communications and marketing tools.

Remuneration & Benefits

Base Salary Range: $92,851 to $100,534 pa (HEW 6)

This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a fixed term basis for 12 months.
