The United Workers Union is seeking a Graduate Accountant who will assist in financial reporting, budgeting, and accounting processes while gaining practical experience in financial management. This role is ideal for a recent graduate looking to develop their accounting skills and gain exposure to finance operations.

KEY RESPONSiBILITIES

  • Financial Reporting & Analysis
    • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and reconciliations.
    • Analyse financial data to identify discrepancies and trends.
    • Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Accounts Payable & Receivable:
    • Process invoices, payments, and expense reports.
    • Assist in monitoring outstanding receivables and follow up on collections.
  • General Ledger Maintenance:
    • Assist in journal entries and account reconciliations.
    • Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Taxation & Compliance:
    • Assist in preparing tax returns (GST, payroll tax, FBT, etc.).
    • Ensure compliance with state regulations and financial policies.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting:
    • Support the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
    • Monitor actual financial performance against budgets.
  • Audit & Internal Controls:
    • Assist in internal and external audits.
    • Support the implementation of internal financial controls.
  • Other Duties:
    • Participate in financial projects and process improvements.
    • Stay updated on accounting standards and regulations.
    • Perform other finance-related tasks as assigned.

KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Knowledge of accounting principles
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage X3 ) and Microsoft Excel
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

RENUMERATION

  • Full-time office-based role.
  • Salary Range of $72,000 to $76,000

Other entitlements include:

  • 6 weeks annual leave
  • 16% Superannuation
  • 25 % Annual Leave Loading
