The Eastern VACCA Family Violence Service provides culturally safe support to Aboriginal community members through case management, therapeutic services, and group healing sessions, including community events and retreats.
The FV Therapeutic Practitioner delivers 1:1 trauma-informed therapy, assessing readiness for healing and creating a safe space for recovery. The role includes psychosocial education on family violence, its impacts, and personalised healing strategies. Support is offered through outreach home visits, schools, and community spaces, while collaborating with VACCA and external services.
The FV Therapeutic Practitioner delivers culturally safe, outreach-based therapeutic support to Aboriginal community members impacted by family violence across the Eastern Metro region. Using Cultural Therapeutic Ways, the role involves tailored interventions for women, children, adolescents, and families, including risk assessments, safety planning, and therapeutic readiness evaluations. Practitioners work flexibly, adapting to clients’ needs to build trust and establish healing goals, while offering trauma-informed sessions, psychoeducation, and referrals.
Collaboration with internal and external services is key, alongside maintaining accurate records, adhering to policies, and engaging in supervision. The role also supports program development through training and strengthens community relationships, including with Elders and stakeholders, while upholding VACCA’s ethical standards.
