About the role

Team Leader positions will oversee staff delivery of the following: 

  • Therapeutic case work activities such as advocacy, case plans and referrals with Aboriginal adolescents using violence in the home in conjunction with their families.
  • Risk Assessment and Safety planning (MARAM).
  • Monitor cultural groups for Aboriginal children and adolescents impacted by family violence, to connect them with their culture and promote healthy relationships.

 This position will provide staff with regular professional supervision and appropriate development and training opportunities to provide a quality service and will receive therapeutic professional supervision from the Family Violence Principal Practitioner. 

About You

  • Demonstrated commitment to self-determination and experience working effectively with Aboriginal people and organisations.
  • Demonstrated experience in the successful delivery of a range of appropriate therapeutic healing interventions to Aboriginal women, men, children, and families.
  • A well-developed understanding of attachment and trauma theories and an ability to assist others understand the implications of these.
  • A proven ability to develop, manage and lead a team in quality practice with a comprehensive understanding of the MARAM risk assessment tool.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the Information Sharing legislation.
  • Assess and manage risk for highly vulnerable children and families and recommend improvements.

Requirements: 

  • A tertiary qualification in social work, psychology, family therapy, counselling or a related discipline and experience working within the Therapeutic space.
  • Current COVID-19 vaccination (including booster dose, as applicable), a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver License.
