We have 33 member Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations providing support to over 78,000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across the state. About the role

The Executive Manager, Aboriginal Aged Care leads and coordinates VACCHO's sector support and advocacy activities across Aged Care, including to navigate system reforms and support the sustainability of services across the ACCO sector. In particular, the Executive Manager is responsible for the VACCHO's auspice of the Victorian Committee for Aboriginal Aged Care and Disability (VCAACD), through which our advocacy is guided by representatives from across the Victorian Aboriginal Community.

The Executive Manager also manages VACCHO's role as the jurisdictional coordinator of the Elder Care Support Program in Victoria, through which VACCHO's member ACCO's provide support for older Aboriginal people and Elders to access culturally Safe Aged Care Assessments and services. The role is also responsible for coordinating advocacy activities in relation to the health, wellbeing and quality of life of older Aboriginal people and Elders across Victoria.

Essential skills/experiences

To be successful in this role, you will need a demonstrated experience as an Executive Manager capable of managing a small team who all share a passion for the Aged Care & Elders space. You will have sound judgement, a pragmatic approach to problem-solving, and strong communication skills, with willingness to take the initiative.

Desirable

  • Understanding and experience in Aged Care, either in a service delivery context or in policy, advocacy and system reform.
  • Understanding and experience working in Aboriginal health and wellbeing, especially in ACCO sector.
  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples are strongly encouraged to apply as your cultural and lived experiences are central to the work we do.
