About the role

The Executive Manager, Screening and Early Detection is responsible for managing VACCHO’s statewide program of initiatives that increase the capacity of screening and early detection activities in Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs). These include:

  • Providing support to ACCOs to increase rates of Aboriginal Health Checks and to integrate high priority screening, e.g. for STIs/BBVs.
  • Supporting increased participation in national screening programs for the early detection of breast, bowel, and cervical cancer.
  • Providing proactive leadership and advocacy to support Victoria’s cervical cancer elimination goal.
  • Supporting the development of new screening pathways including for lung cancer.
  • Supporting increased and improved outreach to ACCOs for allied health screening initiatives e.g. by visiting audiologists and optometrists and supporting ACCOs to develop their own screening capabilities.

The Executive Manager is responsible for developing, coaching, and mentoring staff to achieve project objectives within annual cycles of impact reporting. Working collaboratively with other teams within VACCHO, the Screening and Early Detection team also contributes to improving Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) within VACCHO’s member organisations.

Essential skills/experiences

To be successful in this role, you will need a demonstrated experience in managing, coaching and supporting the development of a team. You will have the ability to develop and maintain close working relationships with key external stakeholders including the Victorian Cancer Screening Framework partnership, Sexual Health Victoria, Rural Workforce Agency Victoria, and Australian College of Optometry.

Desirable

  • Community engagement skills and/or experience in health stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience working with committees including expert working groups and Communities of Practice.
  • Understanding of Victorian health systems
