About the role

The Strategic Project Lead, Cancer Coordination at VACCHO plays a critical role in enhancing cancer outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities. This position involves collaborating with VACCHO Members, cancer agencies and government bodies to influence cancer policies and develop culturally appropriate cancer care programs.

The Strategic Project Lead, Cancer Coordination will work closely with stakeholders to improve the delivery and accessibility of cancer services, advocate for the development of relevant and culturally appropriate cancer policies and programs, and coordinate community-led initiatives. This role also involves contributing to the creation of culturally safe health information and promotion materials, and participating in activities aimed at continuously improving cancer experiences and outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Essential skills/experiences

To be successful in this role, you will need demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining effective relationships with government, cancer agencies and health services to support the development of relevant and Culturally safe and responsive cancer policy and programs.

You will have sound judgement, a pragmatic approach to problem-solving, and strong communication skills, with willingness to take the initiative.
