OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE:
The Volunteer Coordinator at the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service will organise the recruitment of volunteers and facilitate any necessary training. The role is responsible for implementing, supporting and evaluating a high-quality volunteer program which meets all the necessary requirements and needs for VALS.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with legal and community support teams, source, and recruit volunteers through various techniques.
- Liaise with universities and other services to develop sources for recruiting volunteers.
- Work closely with legal and community support teams.
- Arrange and deliver training for, and support for volunteers.
- Oversee the collection of large-scale data about client experience utilising volunteers.
- Coordinating volunteers for special events (e.g., fundraising)
- Keeping contact with new, existing, and potential volunteers, and inform them about the organisation and volunteer opportunities.
- Ensuring all volunteers have a clearly defined role and role description upon commencement and a clear understanding of their role.
- Undertake reporting and analysis of all aspects of the program in a timely manner to identify trends and determine if program objectives and outcomes have been met.

- Previous experience in coordinating a volunteer program

- Strong ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds.

Desirable
- Home & Community Care Certificate IV/ Community Services Work - Certificate IV or similar or significant relevant experience.
- 3-5 years' experience coordinating a volunteer program.
Mandatory Requirements:
On offer of this position, you must provide:
- Copy of your current Employee Working with Children Card.
- You will be required to complete a current Criminal History Police Check.
- Up to date vaccination certificate or valid medical exemption
- Proof of rights to work in Australia, i.e., a copy of an Australian Passport, Birth Certificate, or Immigration VISA documentation
- Current valid Victorian Driver’s Licence
- Copies of any certificates or degrees relevant to this role
