Vegan Australia is an animal rights organisation that campaigns nationally for veganism. We support the vegan community, inform the general public about the principles of veganism and present a strong voice for veganism to governments, institutions, corporations and the media. We are dedicated to impactful change-making by educating Australians about veganism and animal rights and the evidence-based benefits of vegan living for human health, the natural environment and social justice. We also research the best ways to educate people and raise awareness about these issues. We are dedicated to making a difference for animals, people and our planet.
Vegan Australia also operates a successful vegan product and service certification program, Vegan Australia Certified.
Are you an ethical vegan who is passionate about animal rights? Are you knowledgeable about social change and effective advocacy? Can you inspire others to be active in this growing movement? Can you take Vegan Australia to the next level? If so, then this rare and exciting opportunity to play a key role in promoting veganism in Australia might be for you.
Working remotely with the Board and Managing Director, you will guide all aspects of the organisation’s operations. Your aptitude for strategy implementation, alliance and team building will drive developmental actions to support organisational growth and impact. The dual internal and public-facing nature of the role requires someone with innate initiative and exceptional people and communication skills.
As the organisation's primary executive officer, your responsibilities will extend to oversight and support of incumbent program contractors and volunteers, with potential to grow the organisation's human resources.
Above all, this role requires somebody who connects deeply with Vegan Australia's vision for a world in which people treat animals with respect, ensure justice for them and enable them to live their lives free of human exploitation, use and ownership.
This is an ideal role for you if you are:
A strategic thinker with vision and passion for a better world, possessing high-level conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with the ability to think laterally at a macro-level with the nuance required to deliver outcomes.
A systematic thinker with sound campaigning and communications experience, in-depth knowledge of the arguments for veganism, good commercial understanding and an ability to positively influence both individuals and broader systemic change.
An engaging spokesperson with exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, and experience with public speaking and/or media engagement.
An action-oriented professional with aptitude to work both independently and as part of a team.
You will ideally have experience in one or more of the following:
Vegan Australia is a peaceful, inclusive organisation and is opposed to all forms of oppression and discrimination. We strive to be a diverse organisation and we invite those who are historically under-represented in our organisation to apply for this role.
