The Victorian Ambulance Union Inc. (VAU) are seeking applications for a permanent Organiser to be employed on a full-time basis. This organiser will work alongside VAU Industrial Lawyers, Organisers and officials representing members who work for the ambulance industry in Victoria.
Qualifying Criteria
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the Victorian ambulance industry, including Ambulance Victoria, Non-Emergency patient transport (NEPT) and/or Triple Zero Victoria (TZV). They will have experience working as a union delegate or employee representative. In addition, the relevant candidate will have demonstrated experience exhibiting the following skills/capabilities:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to work within a team and take direction from senior staff/officials;
- Experience in advocacy and negotiation;
- Computer literacy and technology skills including with MS Office & Excel;
- Ability to plan and organise your work;
- Familiarity with industrial instruments including, enterprise agreements and the Ambulance Patient Transport Industry Award 2020.
- A strong work ethic with a desire to get the best outcomes for members.
Key duties/responsibilities
As an organiser you will be performing duties and tasks under the direction of the relevant Industrial Officer, Assistant Secretary and/or General Secretary.
This includes the following duties/ responsibilities:
- Growing the VAU membership by recruiting new members from within these groups, including by sourcing new areas of growth for membership.
- Servicing existing ambulance members across Victoria including by conducting workplace visits and induction presentations.
- Providing industrial advice and assistance through responding to general queries about terms and conditions of employment in AV, NEPT and TZV as outlined in the relevant enterprise agreements and other relevant industrial instruments.
- Advocating on behalf of members including by representing and appearing with members at meetings with their employer management representatives in relation to grievances and disciplinary matters.
- Identify and develop strategies to address industry-wide issues of concern;
- Communicate member concerns to the VAU including assisting with developing industrial strategies to deal with such concerns;
- The ability to maintain privacy of members matters, be respectful and demonstrate objectivity at all times.
Renumeration
Renumeration package includes:
- Annual salary of $97,280.19 per year plus 14.5% superannuation.
- Motor vehicle allowance of $15,925.52 per year OR a VAU supplied Motor Vehicle.
- 6 weeks annual leave plus 25% annual leave loading.
- 12 rostered days off per year (non-accruing).
