About the role

The Copywriter is a key member of the digital content team which sits across the three Marketing and Communications groups. This team works collaboratively across all VicHealth work – including the This Girl Can campaign – to develop and deliver engaging and effective content for the Victorian public.

Key responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the writing, editing, and proofing of content for all digital publications, platforms and channels
  • Develop and implement content strategies and plans that support the communication of VicHealth’s role, its work and its programs/projects
  • Respond to briefs from program areas, providing expert communications advice
  • Manage VicHealth EDMs – including planning content, composing emails aimed at different stakeholder groups, building, coding and sending emails, and adding/unsubscribing recipients when needed
  • Review and understand data insights related to content performance
  • Create new solutions and measure results (e.g. A/B testing), and learn from both successes and failures, responding quickly with adjustments to messaging

About You:

As the successful candidate, you will structure written communication effectively to achieve its purpose, with a strong understanding of the information needs of target audiences. You will demonstrate excellent attention to detail but also communicate technical issues and ideas in plain English. You’ll also be able to identify and monitor current trends in social media, digital and mobile technologies.

Additional qualifications and experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Marketing or Public Relations or similar area
  • Demonstrated experience working across the full spectrum of a digital role with a particular focus on content management and email marketing
  • Experience working within the public health, not-for-profit or government sectors preferred
  • Experience working with a Content Management System and updating web content
  • Strong understanding of SEO and proven experience of implementing best practice
  • Experience building EDMs particularly in MailChimp
