Role Description
The Victor Chang Foundation is a grant-making organisation founded by Dr Victor Chang in 1984. We are seeking a Social Media Officer. This is a highly collaborative role.
Our mission is to provide grants for:
Education: to educate, train and upgrade and share skills between Australian and Asian medical and health practitioners in the areas of cardiothoracic surgery, heart and lung transplantation and cardiology.
Innovation: to facilitate innovation in the fields of cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery with a focus on heart transplantation, artificial hearts and artificial valves.
Essential Attributes
- Reliability to ensure essential tasks are always completed, especially continuity of social media posts, and responding to emails from VCF
- Attention to detail – spelling/grammar/branding
- Initiative – able to search for or suggest new content
- Sensitivity and discretion – the Foundation is run by Dr Chang’s family
- Ability to respond to situations rapidly
Experience
Essential
- Familiarity with NFP communications
- Social media platforms – primarily Facebook
- Website copyrighting and editing
- Mailchimp
Desirable
- Squarespace – making changes to current website as required (e.g. to board login portal)
- Google AdWords and Display ads
- Meta (Facebook/Instagram) ad manager Canva
- Fundraising experience
- Experience working with creative agencies
Tasks
Weekly
- Weekly catch up 30-45mins for new social media posts – flexibility with days but earlier in week preferable.
- Monitor social media channels for comments and messages in the inbox.
- Remove/hide occasional posts as required.
- Respond to any queries with approved wording.
- Create concepts for social media posts. Can include news items, important key anniversaries posting of old photos or news articles, thank you to supporters etc.
- Draft social media posts, including images on Canva. Minimum x3 per week.
- Scheduling posts after approval from VCF.
- Ensure there is at least 2 weeks of social media posts scheduled in advance to ensure continuity of posting.
Quarterly
- Create an internal report for each quarter on social media (use template).
- Check Google Ad Words grant is running. Make any changes as required.
- Monitor Google Analytics (quarterly or more regularly).
As required
- Draft a ‘news’ post each month for the website. Coordinate with a social media post.
- Update website when requested through Squarespace.
- Set up EDMs through Mailchimp (copy supplied from VCF).
- Create report on any campaigns (Christmas or EOFY).
- Monitor Google listing and campaigns.
- Manage ad campaigns through Meta (Facebook/Instagram) and Google Display ads
- Check donations from campaigns
- Collaborating to create campaigns (EOFY, Christmas etc)
