About the Role

The Senior Student Support Worker will lead a small team to provide Free TAFE students support in a range of areas. This role will primarily establish and implement a systematic approach to overseeing both the provision of career and course advisory services to prospective Free TAFE students, as well as providing immediate support for students who may have issues or require critical information. This role will also take responsibility for delivering professional learning activities to staff as required.

About the Person

A strong leader with significant proven experience in student welfare and support, you will be able to work both independently and collaboratively across multiple campuses.

You will be highly motivated, innovative and an excellent communicator who can effectively manage relationships with all stakeholders. We are looking for someone who has experience developing and delivering both support services and learning and development programs to our teaching staff. Experience working with students from very diverse backgrounds in a sensitive and discretionary style is also critical.

Key Responsibilities

• Leading a small team of support workers to establish a collaborative approach to supporting Free TAFE students across multiple campuses and courses.
• Establish and implement a systematic approach to the support needs of Free TAFE students, including the utilisation of existing Victoria University Polytechnic student support services
• Identifying and developing new support services specifically for the Free TAFE cohort
• Delivering professional learning activities (training and development) for teaching staff
• Managing regular reporting requirements both internally and externally
• Assisting with ensuring that the experiences of Free TAFE students are positive, productive and lead to employment opportunities
• Work effectively and collaboratively with a range of stakeholders at all levels, both internal and external to the University
