
Vietnam Animal Aid and Rescue-US is a animal rights organisation founded in 2013 in Hoi An, Vietnam. We have a small rescue shelter in Hoi An and a collaboration with the Vietnamese government to care for wildlife rescued from the wildlife trade. We are working to build the first and only macaque rescue, rehab, release project in addition to caring for other trafficked species, both exotic and native. As this is a new wildlife project, the right candidate will be instrumental in building this from the ground up in coordination with the government and raising the money needed through grants, corporate partnerships, and major gifts solicitation.
Core responsibilities
- Fundraising: seeking and applying for grants, solicitation of major donors, donor fellowship and engagement, keeping donor database updated, emails for fundraising (once or twice a week) and donor thank you's (once every 2 weeks) on Mailchimp or Donorbox
- Marketing - expanding our exposure to potential donors and collaborators
- Social media - minimum 5 mornings/ evenings a week post to IG and FB, keep 5 stories going in IG, including responding to comments and engaging with other accounts- coordinating with caretaking staff for necessary updates and imagery
- Updating website as needed
- Check and respond to emails
- Recruitment of new staff, interviewing, and assisting with onboarding; updating onboarding documents and staff handbooks
- Regular meetings with staff to ensure compliance with work standards and resolving any conflicts or issues
- Wildlife project fundraising and collaboration with other wildlife and macaque organisations and vets
- Maintaining Google Drive files as necessary for HR, fundraising, animal record files, and media
- Assist in UK and Australian charity registration
- Developing partnerships both locally and internationally with other animal rights organisations and vegan advocacy groups
We are looking for the following skills and traits
- Experience living and working in developing countries, ideally Southeast Asia
- Nonprofit management experience
- HR management skills
- Ability to run the organisation in the absence of the director
- Native or near native English fluency, other languages ideal
- Must be vegan in order to effectively communicate our philosophy and strategies
- Ability to professionally represent the organisation to our caretaking staff, government meetings, and conferences
- Proven fundraising experience in any nonprofit sector, but ideally animal advocacy
- This role can be remote, but we would prefer someone living in Asia at the very least in order to visit the staff and sanctuaries
Benefits
- $1200 per month part time (20 hours a week) or $1575 full time. There is salary increase potential for all staff as we are able to increase revenue.
- 21 days paid holiday accumulated throughout the year, unlimited sick days
- 5 day work week, but this might not always exclude weekends - schedule is very flexible though
