We are looking for a paralegal to join our growing team
Paralegals in our team support our Solicitors to provide exceptional client experience, legal representation and insight to our clients. Your role is to assist with day-to-day legal and advocacy functions. There will be a component of basic administrative tasks as well - be prepared to roll up your sleeves.
To summarise what success looks like:
- You will effectively manage the client files; intake, file set up, client care, file review, time recording and file closure processes
- You will accurately manage the practice diary ensuring that filling deadlines, undertakings and other critical dates and deliverables are kept on track
- Clients will think you are fabulous - as the first point of contact with Violet Co your inclusive, culturally competent and trauma informed style will make our clients want to work with us, trust us and refer us to their networks
- Advocacy and law reform wins - support the team with law reform research and submissions, advocacy activities and events
The experience we are looking for in you
We are looking for someone with some experience in the law. This could be one or more of the following, or something else:
- Studying law, arts or another related discipline (essential)
- Experience working in a legal practice or another professional services firm (e.g. medical practice, accounting firm); and/or
- Employment law or Industrial Relations experience (e.g. a Trade Union); and/or
- Experience working as a mediator or restorative justice practitioner; and/or
- Experience in advocacy, for-purpose sector and/or charitable initiatives.
We are looking for someone who can work part-time 2 days per week
The position of Paralegal is part time 2 days per week. The position can be worked flexibly with the hours spread over 2 or 3 days per week. It is understood that the position holder may be studying, and as such the days worked may change each semester.
Office location preferred with some flexibility to work remotely. Our office is located at The Hub Hyde Park 223 Liverpool Street, Darlinghurst. Occasional interstate and regional travel may be required.
