The purpose of Voices of Influence Australia is to re-conceptualise young people as solutions to existing problems to human rights issues, and create meaningfully opportunities for democratic participation.

Duties of a Non-Executive Director (Voluntary)

As a member of our Board, you'll play a key role in the governance of the organisation, serving as a custodian of Voices of Influence Australia's values and strategy, overseeing our finances and organisational performance to enable our long-term sustainability and impact, and ensuring effective risk management and legal compliance. You'll join the team of current Board members and have the opportunity to work alongside and learn from experts in their fields.

The Board's work, from setting organisational strategy through to ensuring its effective implementation, directly shapes Voices of Influence Australia's capacity for impact and future growth.

  1. You believe in the power and importance of youth-led initiatives holding our decision makers to account on the duties and responsibilities protecting human rights in Australia.
  2. You approach your work with humility and integrity, and are energised by driving new and innovative ways of social change.
  3. You have a strong appetite for learning - particularly in the face of challenges.
  4. You are strongly aligned with Voices of Influence Australia's mission, vision, values and impact framework.
  5. You pride yourself on agile and creative problem solving.
  6. You demonstrate strong leadership qualities and have experience within the non-profit or community sectors

Essential Criteria

  • Based in Australia (NSW, ACT, QLD, TAS, VIC, WA, NT).
  • Under the age of 35 years of age (18-35).

Commitment

  • A minimum of a 12 month term of service.
  • On average, about two to four hours a week for a NED. The Board meets twelve times a year.

As a youth-run organisation, all of of our Board must be under the age of 35. We also strongly encourage applications from women and non-binary people, First Nations and people of colour, and those with lived experience in the communities with whom we work.
