About the role

An opportunity for one (1) x Injury Management Consultant to be part of our Health and Wellbeing Hub for the Western Region Hub located in Ballarat.

The Health and Wellbeing Hubs is the single most significant investment in the health, safety, and wellbeing of Victoria Police employees to prevent and respond to work related injuries. Six multi-disciplinary teams, based in hubs across the state are being established, enhancing employee's mental health, injury prevention, early intervention, and recovery support. This newly created position offers an exciting opportunity to support Victoria Police employees.

The Injury Management and Rehabilitation Consultant will provide early and ongoing management to support ill and injured employees, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements. The position will work closely and collaboratively with local managers, employees and in consultation with all stakeholders, to achieve a safe and sustainable remain at work or early return to work outcomes.

Reporting to the Injury Management Team Leader you will manage a portfolio of claims for the Region, ensuring best practice in claims management and return to work practise.

Your duties will include:

  • Provide professional and expert support, focusing on the rehabilitation and recovery of the employee with a focus on early return outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team of health, safety and wellbeing professionals and providing injury management expertise to the team.
  • Provide ongoing support to monitor the progress of ill/injured workers' recovery and capacity to return to work including facilitating return to work planning, treater negotiation and communication with Victoria Police's Workers Compensation insurer.
  • Facilitating pro-active early intervention and prevention strategies as well as contributing to the upskilling of managers to help influence/enhance stay at work outcomes.  
  • Providing advice and guidance to managers to ensure Victoria Police and employees meet return to work obligations in accordance with the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013. 

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in workplace injury management and return to work planning, in a similar role or demonstrated transferable skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in the management of complex mental injuries would be an advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with other members in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills and ability to build relationships and engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Experience in injury management / vocational rehabilitation / case management is highly desirable.
  • Qualifications in an allied health or associated discipline is highly desirable.

Requirements and relevant information

  • One (1) x full-time, ongoing position available.
  • This position is located in Ballarat.
  • This position requires regular travel, applicants must hold a current Drivers License.
