Victorian Trades Hall Council (VTHC) is the peak body for unions in Victoria. We are seeking to employ three fixed term full-time Project Outreach Organisers for our Workplaces for Women project to advance gender equality in gender segregated industries.

The Workplace for Women Project runs for 12 months from the start of April 2025.

The Workplaces for Women Project promotes gender equality in gender segregated industries to create workplaces where women are safe, respected, equal and included. The Project will conduct outreach and development of women workers and workplace leaders, develop strategic networks, conduct and publish research, develop resources and cutting edge materials, develop and deliver relevant training to suit a range of audiences.

The Project works with VTHC’s affiliate unions, relevant industry stakeholders, employers, the ACTU and other state-based Trades and Labour Councils.

We are seeking to employ three Project Outreach Organisers who are ready to advance gender equality and make a difference for working women.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Entering, cleaning and managing data
  • Outreach to women and contributing to turn out to online and offline events, via phone calls, emails, meetings and online engagement
  • Maintain, post/edit and update simple social media materials in line with VTHC guidelines
  • Assisting with coordination and delivery of leadership development programs
  • Working with workers, unions, employers and other relevant community organisations to support the goals of the Project

  • Commitment to social justice, gender equality and trade union principles
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to develop rapport with a variety of people
  • A passion for working directly with members, delegates and officials who make up our movement
  • Experience making change in your workplace, community or anywhere else
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to enter and manage data across several applications
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Previous experience working in a trade union or working in a historically male dominated industry (not required but viewed favourably)

BONUS:

  • Experience working at a trade union or similar
  • Knowledge of specific issues for workers from diverse backgrounds
  • A relevant degree is desirable but not required

MORE INFORMATION:

This position is fixed term, full time set at Level 3 or 4 of our classification structure (approx. $69,000 - $79,000) dependent on experience.

The Workplace for Women Project runs for 12 months from the start of April 2025.

Victorian Trades Hall has an Enterprise Agreement with a monthly RDO (in recognition of occasional additional hours) and 12% superannuation.

This position is based at Victorian Trades Hall in Carlton.

This position reports to the Assistant Secretary and Secretary through Project Leadership. Some irregular hours, regional and interstate travel may be required in this role.
