Board Directors x2 (Voluntary)

Women's and Girls' Emergency Centre

ABOUT US

Women’s and Girls’ Emergency Centre (WAGEC) is a feminist, grassroots organisation that supports women and families in crisis and advocates for social change in the community. We work on the lands of the Gadigal, Wangal and Dharug people of the Eora Nation.

Every night, we support 200 women and children impacted by homelessness, domestic violence, and systemic disadvantage. Equally, we seek to address the underlying causes of gender-based violence through primary prevention activities with communities and private and public entities that want to be a part of the global movement to end gender-based violence in a generation.

  • Oversee all governance and compliance matters to ensure WAGEC adheres to all necessary legal and regulatory requirements and ethical and sustainable standards
  • Employ strong financial and business acumen to assess, guide and make decisions on WAGEC's financial stability, sustainability, and growth
  • Identify, assess and evaluate internal and external risks for the organisation, ensuring appropriate management processes are in place
  • Apply your excellent communication and influencing skills for effective stakeholder consultation and management.

Additionally, our areas of focus for these two roles are:

  • Experience, skills and knowledge of fundraising and campaign strategy
  • Connections or the ability to establish effective relationships with major donors, philanthropic agencies, corporate partners

The Women’s and Girls’ Emergency Centre is committed to fostering a diverse, equitable and inclusive organisation. Diversity is an important component of the characteristics and skills we use in establishing our Board composition.

We strongly encourage people with lived experience, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and people of all cultures and identities to apply.

WAGEC is a child-safe organisation, committed to the safety, well-being, and empowerment of all children who we engage with in our services and community.
