Women’s and Girls’ Emergency Centre (WAGEC) is a feminist, grassroots organisation that supports women and families in crisis and advocates for social change in the community. We work on the lands of the Gadigal, Wangal and Dharug people of the Eora Nation.
Every night, we support 200 women and children impacted by homelessness, domestic violence, and systemic disadvantage. Equally, we seek to address the underlying causes of gender-based violence through primary prevention activities with communities and private and public entities that want to be a part of the global movement to end gender-based violence in a generation.
The Board of Directors is responsible for the governance and strategic leadership of WAGEC. We are seeking passionate, strategic-minded individuals with strong experience, skills and knowledge in communication, risk management, financial acumen, and decision-making.
We are particularly interested in hearing from people who could offer us experience and expertise in fundraising, campaigning, IT and systems transformation.
The Women’s and Girls’ Emergency Centre is committed to fostering a diverse, equitable and inclusive organisation. Diversity is an important component of the characteristics and skills we use in establishing our Board composition.
We strongly encourage people with lived experience, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and people of all cultures and identities to apply.
WAGEC is a child-safe organisation, committed to the safety, well-being, and empowerment of all children who we engage with in our services and community. We have a whole organisation approach to upholding children's rights and striving to prevent all forms of harm, abuse and neglect for children and young people.
