About Women and Mentoring (WAM)

Women and Mentoring (WAM) is a community-based early intervention program supporting cisgender and transgender women and non-binary people in contact with the legal system. We match participants with trained volunteer mentors who provide trauma-informed, strengths-based support, helping them build positive pathways and connections within their community.

With increased funding, WAM is expanding into regional Victoria using our proven remote mentoring model, which ensures participants in rural and regional areas receive tailored support, regardless of geographic barriers.

About the Role

As Regional Program Coordinator, you will lead the expansion of WAM’s mentoring program into new and selected regional areas across Victoria. Your role will involve developing relationships with local stakeholders and referral agencies, conducting participant intake and assessment, and supporting mentoring relationships through our remote model. You will also play a critical role in setting up and maintaining digital systems to enable effective remote mentoring delivery.

While this role requires significant autonomy, you will collaborate with a passionate team to ensure the program’s success and alignment with WAM’s values and strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Expansion: Build and sustain strong relationships with referring agencies, community organisations, courts, and other stakeholders in regional areas. Actively identify new referral sources and promote the remote mentoring model within local communities.
  • Participant Intake & Assessment: Oversee intake processes for regional participants, assessing eligibility, conducting needs assessments, and providing on-referral to appropriate community services.
  • Mentor Coordination: Coordinate mentoring relationships, facilitating match meetings, goal-setting, and reviews. Deliver remote and in-person training for volunteer mentors and provide ongoing support through professional development and supervision.
  • Digital Program Setup: Set up and manage digital platforms to ensure user-friendly, effective remote mentoring delivery for participants, mentors, and staff.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate case management records and contribute to program evaluation and reporting requirements, demonstrating the impact of WAM’s work in regional areas.

About You

We are seeking someone with practical experience working with women and non-binary individuals facing complex challenges, particularly those in early contact with the criminal legal system. You will have the ability to establish and maintain referral pathways, complete participant intake and assessment, and coordinate mentoring relationships remotely.

You will also have:

  • Strong interpersonal and networking skills to build and sustain stakeholder relationships.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and experience working with volunteer programs.
  • Confidence in using digital platforms and IT systems to set up and manage remote programs.
  • Organisational skills to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality service.
