Warrama-Li Group is a newly established social enterprise in Moree, NSW. We are dedicated to creating job and training opportunities for young Aboriginal men and women interested in a trades-based career.
We support the personal and professional development of our people by offering training and employment opportunities in carpentry, plumbing and cleaning and maintenance services.
We aspire to provide young Aboriginal people with a sense of purpose and motivation, greater confidence and feelings of self-worth and reduced interactions with the criminal justice system through employment and wrap around support. We work closely with our parent company – Miyay Birray Youth Service.
Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled and strategic leader to drive business growth, manage client and stakeholder relationships, and oversee project delivery. This role requires strong leadership skills, financial acumen, and building industry expertise.
You will lead a team, secure new opportunities, and ensure that works completed are of high quality and compliant with industry standards. You will also play a key role in advancing our mission to create long-term economic opportunities for young Aboriginal people in Moree.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Business Development
- Strategic decision-making to drive organisational growth
- Identify and secure new business opportunities, including submitting tenders and forming new partnerships
2. Client & Stakeholder Management
- Maintain strong relationships with existing philanthropic funders
- Manage existing client relationships with community housing providers, ensuring they are satisfied with jobs completed, encouraging strong client retention.
- Build and maintain relationships with industry stakeholders and government funding bodies
3. Team Leadership & Operations
- Lead and manage a team of ~12 staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment
- Address and resolve conflicts effectively to maintain team cohesion
- Oversee onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development of staff
- Oversee rostering of team to jobs
4. Project Management and Quality Assurance
- Provide technical oversight on projects, ensuring jobs are delivered to a high standard
- Secure and manage subcontractors for jobs
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards
- Ensure the team has the necessary tools, equipment and materials for efficient and effective fulfillment of jobs
5. Financial & Risk Management
- Oversee the development of a budget and report against this budget monthly
- Develop a risk management approach and report on risks and mitigation strategies monthly
- Board reporting
- Reporting to philanthropic funders
Desired Experience and Skills
- Minimum 5 years of building industry experience, with a carpentry license at minimum, ideally working towards a builder’s license.
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships across diverse groups
- Proven strategic decision-making abilities, driving business growth and operational efficiency
- Experience in business development and sales, including securing new contracts and tenders
- Problem-solving and crisis management skills
- Financial acumen, with experience in budget development and management and financial planning.
- Strong project management and risk management skills
