Women & Children First (WACF) is a community-based organisation providing crisis accommodation and wraparound support for women and children experiencing domestic and family violence. Our services extend to parenting programs, advocacy, and prevention initiatives such as our Safer Together program.

The Safer Together Program

Is a comprehensive program committed to eradicating domestic abuse and violence through education, advocacy and community engagement. Our multifaceted approach addresses the root causes of abuse, fostering crucial conversations within communities, businesses, schools, and sporting clubs, uniting efforts to stop abuse before it begins, encouraging respect and upstander behaviour.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role will support the Education & Engagement Officer, in the coordination and delivery of our domestic abuse and violence awareness program, Safer Together. You will require a passion for social change, experience in advocacy or education and a hands-on, proactive approach to community engagement. You need to be able to work independently, take initiative and have a flexible approach to work, as everyday will be different. You will be instrumental in expanding program reach, identifying new partner organisations, and coordinating Upstander Award outreach.

This role is a total of eight (8) hours per week worked across Monday-Thursday, and the flexibility to work from home with the occasional meeting in the office, based on the Northern Beaches.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE

  • Serve as the main point of contact and coordinate the delivery of Safer Together sessions across corporate, educational, and community settings.
  • Identify and engage potential program partners, promoting workshops and tailored sessions on such topics as domestic abuse and coercive control.
  • Identify and engage potential schools and community groups for the Upstander Award initiative, and coordinate logistics for award presentations.
  • Compile and maintain detailed reports on program activities, including participation data, session outcomes, feedback and testimonials.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong ability to engage and communicate with diverse community groups.
  • Excellent time management, organisational, and administrative skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with external partners.
  • Understanding of domestic abuse and family violence, coercive control, and community-based prevention strategies desirable but not essential.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Current Driver’s Licence.
  • Working with Children Check and National Police Check.
  • Your own ABN.
