Blue Wren House, Camden Women’s Shelter provides a safe place for women and families experiencing domestic violence and homelessness. We support women and children to rebuild their lives. Our services include crisis accommodation and outreach support. We are one of eleven shelters that operate under the banner of Women’s Community Shelters.

We are recruiting a Case Worker on a full-time basis for Blue Wren House, to work with women and children who are homeless in a crisis accommodation setting. Flexibility for early mornings, evenings and on-call shifts are essential.

An understanding of the homelessness sector, awareness around current issues and practice in domestic violence and good knowledge of housing pathways are key skills for this role.

ESSENTIAL Criteria

  • Cert IV in Community Services or Minimum 5 years’ experience working with women who are homeless.
  • Demonstrated experience within the community services sector in a case worker capacity, preferably in women’s services.
  • Knowledge of the dynamics and impact of family violence and abuse[SB1] [SB2] [MB3] and how best to support survivors, including the impacts of trauma on women.
  • An understanding of Workplace Health and Safety procedures.
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Ability to use online case management systems
  • Current Senior First Aid certificate or capacity to acquire one before commencement
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • National Police Check
  • The right to live and work in Australia
