  • Three roles are available: 1 full time and 2 part time (30 hours per week)
  • Annual salary package of $79,744.50 based on full time (inclusive of 11.5% super). Wellsprings for Women offers salary packaging up to $15,900 per annum.
  • Two of the roles work mainly in the City of Casey through outreach arrangements.

The Settlement Case Worker is responsible for providing settlement support to newly arrived people, especially Humanitarian Entrants and Refugees, who have arrived in Australia within the last five years (or more depending on circumstances).

Support includes low and medium intensity case management, group based learning and individual capacity building.

Client Support:

  • Provide case management services that are sensitive to issues pertaining to gender, race, religion, and culture and that are cognisant of an individual’s refugee experience.
  • Advocate on behalf of the client in areas where there are complex issues with other agencies; assist with the provision of information in relation to community resources and support the client to access these services.
  • Ensure the maintenance of client information records in an accurate and timely manner, maintaining principles of confidentiality and privacy according to legal and agency standards.
  • Work with the Manager and team members to develop and deliver targeted groups that will provide information, support and individual capacity building to promote effective settlement for individuals and families.
  • Organise and run group activities and information sessions on variety of topics.
  • Work constructively with outreach posts especially schools to advance and enhance settlement outcomes for women and their children

Team Work:

  • Share responsibility for achieving program targets with relevant team members.
  • Actively participate in team meetings and organisation planning & professional development sessions.

Networking and Collaboration:

  • Participate in community and service providers’ forums and information sessions on behalf of Wellsprings for Women and SETS program.
  • Work alongside other SETS providers to address broader capacity building issues or other relevant issues impacting the communities we support.
  • Collaborate with other community agencies and refer clients who need their services. Example Local Schools and ethno-specific agencies.
  • Access support from community volunteers as needed

Qualifications

  • Diploma of Community Service/Diploma of Community Development or equivalent

Experience and Knowledge and Skills & competencies

  • Ability to deliver case management services to clients from refugee and/or humanitarian backgrounds, including group programs.
  • Strong communications skills (written and verbal)
  • Knowledge of community services, and the ability to support newly arrived clients to access the services they need
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a professional environment to achieve team objectives and to deliver positive work outcomes
  • Understanding of the settlement needs and issues experienced by Refugees and Humanitarian Entrants
  • Understanding of the Settlement Sector Quality Framework, and an ability to apply the Key Settlement Sector Principles and Practices to this role
  • Understanding and commitment to the principles of community development.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, including culturally sensitive practice, and the ability to engage effectively with other service providers and stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and to plan and organise activities according to priorities and established deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively in, and contribute to, a positive and productive team environment

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Attend meetings with other service providers as required
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with relevant agencies, service providers and refugee/Asylum seekers communities

Other (Essential)

  • Current National Police Check
  • Current Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • Current driver’s licence

Other (Desirable)

  • Fluency in a language other than English relevant to our target population
