About the role

This position performs accounting and clerical tasks related to the efficient maintenance and processing of accounts receivable and payable transactions.

This role will also carry out other financial duties related to the accounts payable and receivable function of the organisation under the direction of the Accounts Payable and Receivable Manager and Senior Accountants.

Key responsibilities

Accounts Payable:

  • Assisting in the month end close processes.
  • Create new suppliers and maintain existing supplier information.
  • Ensure invoices and payment requests are complete and in compliance with the financial policies and procedures of Wellways Australia.
  • Assist accountants with year-end processes and audit queries as required.
  • Maintenance and processing of the purchasing cards.
  • Maintenance of petty cash floats by recording all entries and verifying all documentation.
  • Perform supplier reconciliations as required.
  • Handle queries internally and externally.
  • Comply with government regulations e.g.GST.
  • Comply with all policies and internal control procedures of Wellways Australia.

Accounts Receivable:

  • Monitor and maintain accounts receivable processing activities, including customer information maintenance, invoice production, receipting and allocation of payments, banking, interfacing receipts from other software to G/L and maintaining the collection process.
  • Create new customers and maintain existing customer information.
  • Contribute to the development of efficient processes and procedures to enhance the ease and timelines by which the accounts can be made.
  • Input and process EIB files when required.
  • Assist with the month-end-close.
  • Reconciliation of debtor accounts.
  • Debt Follow Up, including monitoring customer account details for non-payments, delayed payments and other irregularities.
  • Liaison with internal and external stakeholders in regards to outstanding accounts in person, phone and email.
  • Other tasks related to accounts payable and receivable as directed by the Accounts Payable and Receivable Manager and Senior Accountants.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

Required:

  • Previous accounts payable and receivable experience.
  • Knowledge of general bookkeeping procedures.
  • Superior attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to work without supervision.
  • Experience in investigating problem accounts and rectifying issues.
  • Experience working in a high-volume environment.
  • Process oriented, with focus on continuous improvement.
  • Commitment to best practice.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Workday software.
  • Prior experience working within the not for profit sector

Other essential requirements

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Right to work within Australia
  • Current valid Driver's Licence and the ability to undertake some travel
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate
  • Satisfactory National Police Records Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children's Check
